Her eyes glare downward, staring at the ground and then back up at him like she’s angry somehow. She wonders why he didn’t do anything, why would he let this drag on like how it did? Usually she would say something, scream something- ask why at the top of her lungs that he would let some useless bastard do something like this. But she doesn’t because she can’t. It’s caught in her throat somehow, unable to make out the words she looks around, muttering blindly.
“You don’t deserve this, any of this—”

“No, no, no, no … ”
He takes several mindless steps towards her, clasping his hands around her neck gently. He can’t think of anything else to do –– he doesn’t know how else to convince her. Just talking doesn’t work anymore.
“It’s fine. Okay? I’m fine. That was my fault. My mistake. It won’t happen again.”
